The Lear 40XR private jet is up to twenty percent larger than other light business jets, features an impressive cabin volume of 363 ft3. Typical interiors are configured to seat six and unlike many other light jets, the Lear 40XR has a flat floor throughout the cabin. An additional attractive feature of this roomy light jet is its large baggage capacity, totaling 65ft3, which is capable of fitting golf clubs, bulky hunting equipment and even oversized luggage.
The Lear 40 was developed from the Lear 45, but with a 2 foot shorter fuselage and is powered by two Honeywell TFE731-20AR engines. The 40 model was developed to replace the discontinued Lear 31a with several performance and cabin improvements originally designed from 45 model.
The Lear 40 series began service in January, 2004 and was later upgraded to the Lear 40XR in October, 2004. The Lear 40XR further improved takeoff weights, cruise speeds and time-to-climb rates as compared to the original Lear 40. The engines were upgraded to the TFE731-20BR configuration.
