The Lear 35 private jet, easily distinguishable by its wingtip fuel tanks, is a high speed light jet. As an updated model of the Lear 25, the Lear 35 is equipped with powerful Garrett engines and seating for up to 7 passengers. With a range of over 1,400 miles combined with its high speed cruise, the Lear 35 is a popular and cost effective choice for routes such as, NY to Dallas and Scottsdale to Washington D.C.
The Lear 35 was an upgrade to the first private jet, the Lear 25 and was developed back in 1971. It remains, to this day, one of the fastest and longest range light jets in service with a range of an impressive 2,200nm and speeds of over 500mph. It can fly coast to coast non-stop when winds are favorable and fly faster than many mid-sized jets.
The improved speed of the Lear 35 comes at the expense of cabin size making it one of the smallest cabins in the category. At just 4.3 feet wide, it is comfortable for no more than 6 passengers and the lav in most configurations is not very useful in practicle terms.
