The Cessna Citation Excel private jet is part of the very successful Cessna Citation line. The Excel carries up to eight passengers and two flight crew, cruises at speeds up to 487 mph and has a range of 2050 miles. Its landing gear makes for a smoother taxi and softer landings on all types of surfaces. With the big cabin of a midsize jet and the flexibility and freedom of a light jet, the Citation Excel offers an exceptional level of performance. The Citation Excel can fly to 5,000 airports far closer to your origin and destination than the 500 commercial airports used by the scheduled carriers. Highly efficient turbofans enable the Citation Excel private jets to climb to 43,000 feet in just 22 minutes and will complete a typical 300-mile trip in just 47 minutes.
The Citation Excel was developed from several other Citation models including the Citation X, Citation VII and Citation V Ultra. To produce the Excel, Cessna took the Citation X's fuselage and shortened it to about 21 feet and combined it with an unswept wing which was originally used on the Citation V Ultra. Cessna incorporated the Pratt & Whitney Canada PW500 turbofan engines for performance and dispatch reliability.
The Excels cabin is one of the roomiest in its class and can seat up to 10 passengers in some configurations. A total of 308 were built before it was superceded by the Citation XLS making it a very successful model for Cessna.
