The Cessna Citation X private jet is a long-range medium business jet aircraft and is the fastest operating civilian jet with a top speed of 703 mph, also making it the fastest business jet in history. The Citation X is powered by two Rolls-Royce turbofan engines and is manufactured in Wichita , Kansas . The Citation X can save up to one hour's flight time on transcontinental US flights, flying from Los Angeles to New York with normal wind conditions in 4 hours 10 minutes. The cabin stretches to a length of 23.7 feet, a width of 5.6 feet and a height of 5.7 feet. Standard seating configurations include eight extra large comfortable seats and a bathroom large enough to double as a dressing room. The baggage compartment holds a total of 82 cubic feet, or roughly 770 pounds of luggage. It is a versatile jet that can efficiently handle both short trips and international flights. It is unmatched in its speed, efficiency, and reliability.
Cessna claims the Citation X to be the fastest civil transport in service other than the supersonic Concorde.
The Citation X is also the most successful member of the Citation series with design objectives to included transcontinental USA and trans Atlantic range in a supermid size cabin which flies faster than any other business jet available. This high speed capability, which is 55 to 113kt faster than other mid size corporate jets, delivers up to one hour's saved flight time on transcontinental US flights, flying from San Fransciso to New York with normal wind conditions in under 4.5 hours. Its ability to fly at 51,000 feet allows the Citation X to consumes less fuel than most jets on longer range flights.
The Citation X was a further development of the Citation III, VI and VII fuselage but with more efficient use of internal space to allow greater head room. The first Citation X flew in 1993, certification was granted in 1996 and the first customer delivery later that year.
